This check is pretty cool.

Not because it's from an NFL team, but because it feels a little bit like a full circle moment.

Spark didn't start with saddle pads and horse boots; the truth is that the roots of this company go back much further than that.

In the 1960's, my grandpa was the athletic trainer for the Philadelphia Eagles. Subsequently, he became the inventor of the first neoprene kneesleeve and other braces just by being a problem solver for the athletes under his care. His buddies at other teams started asking for custom braces too and by the 70's, he left the NFL (and his garage shop) to take Pro Orthopedic full time. My dad joined after college and performance products for athletes became the family business.

Since 1999, the same machines that made custom braces for some of the greatest athletes of all time also started making horse products.

So tradition hasn't disappeared. It just became Spark.

We still design products to support athletes, whether they have 2 or 4 legs. So getting a check from an NFL team today was a pretty cool reminder that the roots of Spark started long before the first saddle pad was ever sewn and it's something Im deeply proud of. Designing performance products is in my blood - whether I get recognition for the design, achieve a patent, or not, the foundation of Spark has Pro Orthopedic to thank.
