Join Dana and Sue, the authors of The Dog-Driven Search: Handling Our Nose Work Dogs to Promote Independence, Joy and Enthusiasm book, as they explore the concepts in a dog-driven search: what are the most common body language messages we are sending and how are our dogs receiving them during a Scent Work search? Are we saying what we want to be saying? Are we saying these things when we want to be saying them?

In this webinar, Dana and Sue will cover some of the basic non-verbal conversations between handler and dog, plus some of the most common non-verbal faux pas during a search by analyzing videos. In turn, they will teach the basics of how to analyze your own videos. Reviewing our trial and training videos help every handler identify movements and responses to our dog’s changes of behaviors, and hence minimize the occasional and accidental mixed message.

Odor theory is always so fascinating to so many folks, but let’s dive into why odor is doing what it is doing.

In this webinar, Tony will isolate and explain odor movement such as pooling, channeling and converging. Hide placement is critical not only in training but even more so in setting hides for trials.

Theory is great, but there always seems to be a difference between theory and reality. Therefore, Tony will break down why odor moves the way it does and how to accomplish the set up you are after.

Tony will clarify some fancy terms related to odor and take the mystery out of why the odor is moving the way it is. Accessible, inaccessible and elevated hides, all the basics, and then add in how to work them into the different types of more complex set ups such as converging, pooling and crazy stuff like chimney effect.

This webinar is a Part 2 of a two-part series. Part 2 will focus more on the theories behind odor movement.
