Can I receive benefits for someone living in my household only half of the year?
The answer is yes and no. You can apply for benefits for everyone in your household no matter how long they live there. In Georgia there is no 365 day rule. However, you have certain guidelines to meet within policy. For example: you can have an eighteen year old away at college and still receive SNAP benefits for them. As long as you are still providing their food.
You can not receive benefits for an eighteen year old living in their own home and caring for themselves.
You can’t receive benefits for an eighteen year old that’s visiting you for the holidays.
Is your Case Worker behind on his or her caseload? If your answer is yes and it has caused a delay in your benefits: request a hearing. This hearing request prompts the Supervisor to look into your case; which in some cases will get the Case Worker to complete the case.
The above statement is only true if you have completed a timely review and provided all requested verification timely
