Paradise Winds

Paradise Winds traveled to Arkansas last week and had a wonderful visit all around!

At the University of Central Arkansas, we worked with Dr. Paul Dickinson’s fantastic composition students and led a lively masterclass with the student reed quintet. We also performed a fun recital in their gorgeous concert hall.

We loved spending time with the students at Conway High School as well — thoughtful, engaged, and full of great questions.

10 reed quintets + guest soloists= one massive reed orchestra. We performed a selection of movements from Circusmuziek, a piece so many reed quintets have played since the very beginning. The sheer power of that many incredible reed players together was truly incredible.

And the highlight: our very own Joey K, front row with Calefax, ripped the dirtiest, most epic bassoon improv solo!
