When Mighty Rivers Freeze

It seems so obvious
This winter ain’t messin around

Canada geese huddle en mass
feathers cling on ice floes around
twenty feet from Westchester shores
East Palisade cliffs stripped bare for
Artic fronts to slap and stare

Where’s the warming?

She heard that this shows
we have time to drill
To chew on plastic straws
And wonder if its real trouble

In May this will be a memory
young green growth
blush mountain sides
thousands of Stink bugs
shoveled from basements

Where would the world be without us?
