🚨 Breaking: U.S. Launches Major Military Strikes on Venezuela – Reports Say President Maduro Captured
Early this morning (Jan 3, 2026), the United States carried out a large-scale military operation inside Venezuela, including airstrikes on multiple targets in and around Caracas. Explosions were reported at key military sites such as Fuerte Tiuna (Venezuela’s largest military complex), La Carlota airbase, and La Guaira port. Witnesses described low-flying aircraft, plumes of smoke, power outages in parts of the city, and people fleeing into the streets.
President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that U.S. forces had “successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela” and claimed that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife were captured and flown out of the country. U.S. officials told media outlets that elite units (including Delta Force) were involved.
Venezuela’s government declared a state of emergency, condemned the action as “imperialist aggression” aimed at seizing the country’s oil and mineral resources, and accused the U.S. of attacking civilian and military targets. Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López called for national resistance, saying “they have attacked us but they will not vanquish us.”
The strikes follow months of escalating U.S. pressure on Maduro’s government, including a naval buildup in the Caribbean, seizures of oil tankers, and dozens of attacks on alleged drug-trafficking boats (which the U.S. says killed over 100 people). Trump has justified the actions as part of a campaign against narco-trafficking networks linked to Venezuela.
Casualties are still unclear, and no independent confirmation of Maduro’s capture has been provided yet. The U.S. has banned flights over Venezuelan airspace, and several countries (including Cuba and Colombia) have condemned the operation.
International reaction is swift and divided, with calls for an urgent UN Security Council meeting.
