Please join us in congratulating Leanne, Adult ED RN, on her well-deserved retirement! 🎉

To her coworkers, Leanne was much more than an incredible nurse—she was a true teammate. They describe her as a spitfire with a heart of gold who would do anything for her team. She was a wealth of knowledge in the trauma room, always quick with a witty comment, and had a special way of making every new team member feel welcome from day one.

On her final shift, her Adult ED family celebrated her with a walk-out filled with hugs, smiles, and plenty of tears.

For nurses like Chenzie, who started as a new graduate, Leanne's guidance—especially while learning trauma care—made a lasting impact. Sophia, one of our Adult ED RNs and Social Media Ambassadors, shared that she and the entire team will deeply miss Leanne's spirit, leadership, and presence on the unit.

Thank you, Leanne, for the countless lives you've touched, the nurses you've mentored, and the legacy you've left at Upstate. Wishing you a happy, healthy, and well-deserved retirement!

For our 6B, Med/Surg Clinical Training Specialist Katie, it came down to:
-strong staffing ratios
-supportive leaders & strong teams
-policies that put patients & nurses first
these great reasons and more helped her make the decision to sign on as a state RN with Upstate!

Our 6B team is so happy to have you!

Congratulations to DAISY Award honoree Robert! 🌼

Robert was recently surprised on his unit with a special DAISY Award presentation by our Chief Nursing Officer, Scott Jessie, 11E Nurse Manager, Karen MacNaught, and his team!

After what was expected to be a routine surgery turned into a six-day hospital stay, one family found comfort in Robert's exceptional care. As their night nurse, he brought compassion, honesty, and confidence to every shift. Whether offering reassurance during difficult moments, encouraging their son to keep progressing, or calmly navigating two middle-of-the-night IV emergencies that spared him additional procedures, Robert consistently went above and beyond.

His nominator shared:

"He showed an exceptional balance of compassion, professionalism, and honesty that made an incredibly difficult time more manageable for our family. He treated my son not just as a patient, but as a person, and he treated our family with genuine kindness and respect. He is exactly the kind of nurse the DAISY Award was created to recognize."

Thank you, Robert, for the extraordinary care, dedication, and compassion you bring to every patient and family. Your commitment to nursing makes a lasting difference, and we are proud to celebrate you as a DAISY Award recipient!
