Summer learning doesn’t have to look like worksheets.

As both a teacher and a mom, I’ve learned that some of the most meaningful learning happens during everyday moments.

Here are three simple ways to keep your child’s mind growing this summer:

📚 Read together (or independently) every day.
✍🏾 Encourage journaling—even a few sentences counts.
💬 Have real conversations. Ask open-ended questions that make them think, imagine, and explain.

Learning isn’t just about memorizing facts—it’s about building curiosity, communication, and critical thinking.

These small habits can make a big difference by the time school starts again.

💬 What’s one thing you’re doing to keep your kids engaged this summer?

I landed on a truth about being a teacher mom that no one really talks about.

You can love teaching.

Love your students.

Love making a difference.

And still find yourself exhausted.

Still find yourself struggling financially.

Still find yourself wondering if there has to be more.

For years, I joked about the stress, the burnout, and the realities of education because humor was how I coped.

But eventually I realized the jokes were coming from very real pain points.

Pain points that affected my health, my finances, and how I showed up for myself.

So this summer, I’m doing something different.

I’m choosing to show up for me.

I’m rebuilding.

Not because I’ve figured it all out.

Because I’m finally willing to learn the lessons I’ve been avoiding.

About money.

About boundaries.

About purpose.

About what’s possible.

Teaching will always be part of my story.

But this season is about discovering what else I’m capable of.

✨ Life is the classroom.

And this summer, I’m a student too.

Burnout is strange.
Even when life slows down…
Your body keeps rushing.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Me: ‘Turn to page 67.’
Kids: immediately activate the 6–7 trend 😭
The numbers are EVERYWHERE.

They will literally use ANY chance to do it 💀😂
Because the number 6 and 7 could be ANYWHERE…
and these kids will ALWAYS find a way to go crazy with it 😂💀
You can’t escape it.
