Colada morada! Talk about a delicious drink! ❤
This is a thick spiced berry and purple corn drink. This little guy has a ton of ingredients (and of course many add their own spin to it). It is made with purple corn flour, naranjilla (a fruit native to Ecuador and not even sure what it's English name is 😂 lol) blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, pineapple, ishpingo (a very important spice for this guy but hard to find 🤔) cinnamon sticks, cloves, anise, panela, lemon leaves, lemongrass leaves, orange peel and I'm sure I forgot something but ... so many things! 😱 you can either have it warm or cold (I like it warm ❤)

Guaguas de pan!! This translates to "bread babies." It is a sweet bread that is shaped like a baby (usually wrapped in a blanket but you can also find ones with limbs or animal shaped ones) the word guagua means baby is quechua (an ancestral language from the Andes). These breads can be made with or without a sweet filling. It is then decorated with icing or sometimes made with colored dough!
You can't have these without colada morada though!

Feliz Dia de los Mu***os! In Ecuador it is known as el Dia de los Difuntos (day of the deceased) We celebrate by eating guaguas de pan and coloda morada ❤ we've always loved the way it is celebrated in Mexico but also love the way our own country has its own traditions. Today families gather together and remember lost loved ones.
