🇺🇸 Bringing Western Public Safety Priorities straight to Washington, D.C.

The Western States Sheriffs’ Association is committed to ensuring our local communities have a strong, clear voice at the highest levels of national policy.

WSSA President Sheriff Tracy Glover (Kane County Utah Sheriff's Office), Immediate Past President Sheriff Mark J. Dannels (Cochise County Sheriff's Office), and Commander Bradshaw recently returned from a vital trip to the nation’s capital.

The delegation held direct, productive meetings with:

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin

The United States Department of Justice Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche

Why this matters: From border security to federal-local law enforcement collaboration, ensuring federal leadership understands the unique geographical and operational challenges of the American West is essential to keeping our neighborhoods safe.

Thank you to Secretary Mullin and Acting Attorney General Blanche for their time, leadership, and shared commitment to public safety. Together, we are bridging the gap between local communities and national action.

🇺🇸 Today, Western States Sheriffs’ Association (WSSA) President Sheriff Tracy Glover (Kane County Utah Sheriff's Office, Utah) and Sheriff Matt English (Hood River County Sheriff's Office, Oregon) represented Western sheriffs on Capitol Hill.

While in Washington, D.C., to testify on H.R. 6802, they were invited to a crucial meeting with U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins. Their discussions focused on the vital role local law enforcement plays in public lands partnerships, active forest management, and protecting rural communities from catastrophic wildfires.

Local sheriffs are on the front lines of public land safety. Strong federal-local partnerships are essential to managing our National Forest System effectively.
