“You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you.” -quote by John Wooden. For the past 6 weeks many of you have come forward to help Barbara and her baby Martez who are homeless. You have provided them a safe place to stay and covered their necessities. Barbara has made a lot of progress but still needs some help getting through the next couple of weeks. By then the government assistance she has applied for should have kicked in and Martez will be in low-cost day care. (This will enable her to accept a job offer.) If you feel it in your heart to help, please contact Barbara directly. She is staying at the Red Roof Inn in Alexandria. The number is 703-960-5200. The staff knows her and will be able to transfer you to her room. If she is not in, please leave a message and she will call you back. She needs support more than advice right now because she is working with advocates from LIFT-DC and social workers at Montgomery County. What she needs most urgently is help with food, shelter and basic living expenses for this transition time. She and Martez could also use some additional LOVE, but then again we could all use some of that! Thank you again to the Love family for allowing me to use Taylor’s Cancer Awareness page to bring Barbara’s story to you. Just as no child deserves to have cancer, no child deserves to be homeless. -MG
P.S. Please share this posting with your friends because this is the last and best chance for Barbarba to get some immediate help.
