I can still hear the sound of his 3-year old voice, “put phone down!!”
I’d mastered the art of holding the phone in one hand while playing catch with the other and could get some “work” done while playing with him at the same time.
And there he was, imploring one of his favorite people in the world to just put the distraction of my phone away and be present with him… not just physically, but also emotionally.
I wish I could say I was successful… that I was victorious in listening to his heart and fully engaging with him in those moments. I wasn’t.
So this week’s newsletter comes from a place of “please, for the love of your children, learn from my mistake.”
PRESENCE is one of the greatest gifts a dad can give his family.

I’m really enjoying watching my memories come up on here.
I’ve been on this journey of really putting myself out there for public consumption for a little over three years now, and videos like this one remind me how often I was saying these words to myself more than I ever said them to anyone else.
I needed this message then and again many days over the past three years. Today, as I’m on the precipice of leveling up, I can see what’s next right around the corner, not out of reach… and I’m reminded of how worthy the journey really is.
Whatever it is you’re pursuing and chasing, keep going. You’re worth it.
