The V Corps Best Squad Competition concluded with a final 12-mile ruck march, following an award ceremony to recognize the competitors. A special congratulations to team Howe from 1st Battalion, 6th Field Artillery Regiment who placed 2nd in the competition.

Competitors demonstrated their readiness and proficiency through a variety of challenging events to include a series of warfighting-focused lanes, a formal board evaluation and the Combat Field Test. These enduring tasks assess tactical competence, leadership, physical fitness and decision-making under pressure.

Throughout the competition, squads representing their units continue to showcase teamwork, communication, resilience and overall combat effectiveness as they compete for the distinction of being named Best Squad.

A new chapter begins for 589th Brigade Support Battalion as the unit conducted a Change of Command Ceremony, with Lt. Col. Travis Neddersen relinquishing command to Lt. Col. Chase Kochkodin.

The passing of the battalion colors symbolizes the trust placed in commanders and the confidence that the unit remains ready to accomplish any mission, regardless of the challenges ahead.
