Now introducing the films for the final day of the African Film Festival.

The first film, My Father’s Shadow, directed by Akinola Davies, will be shown at 3 PM. Set in Nigeria during the 1993 election crisis, the film follows two young brothers as they navigate Lagos with their estranged father, witnessing both the vibrancy of the city and the tensions of political unrest. The film has received major recognition, including a BAFTA for Outstanding Debut and the Golden Camera at Cannes.

Later in the evening, the festival continues with Gaaday, a short film from Senegal directed by Awa Coulibaly. It follows a man who returns home after more than ten years, only to discover that his younger brother has taken his place in his family, raising questions of identity and belonging.

The final film of the festival, Cotton Queen, directed by Suzannah Mirghani, takes place in a cotton-farming village in Sudan. It follows Nafisa, whose quiet life shaped by tradition begins to shift with the arrival of a businessman. The film was awarded International Competition Winner at the Thessaloniki Film Festival in 2025.
