Imagine being around 7 or 9 years old and carrying the weight of financial responsibility instead of enjoying your childhood. Daily her family walks the beach to sell a total of 30 coconuts 🥥 for the price of 50C. I asked what her quota was for the day after I had already given her 100C, equal to $2.71 USD. With hesitancy in her voice, she said between 400 and 500 in Nicaraguan money. That would be equal to $10-13 USD. So I told her, "Well, now you officially surpass your goal because here goes an additional 500 C."Now you don't have to work anymore for the rest of the day. Still confused and surprised, she thanked me and walked away to continue to sell my coconuts. My heart broke because daily this is her life and even. Her parents could be seen in the distance selling their contribution to the family goal of $40 USD per day.

His name is Udon, a 45-year-old bicycle taxi driver in Nicaragua.He has been driving for 16 years now.Driving was never supposed to be the end goal for Udon, but between poor decision-making, alcoholism, and throwing away opportunities for education, this was the hand dealt to him. Even obtaining his bicycle taxi was not easy. If it had not been for a loan he took out at 30%. He would not be able to provide for his family
and himself. The average driver makes at best $13 USD for a day's worth of work, but it takes the entire day to accomplish that. Which is why he insisted on kissing my hand multiple times to express his gratitude and insisted on giving me a ride home.

This is Herson. He's 15 years old, almost 18 years old, and he can’t read or write. I don’t know who I should be angry at: the system, poverty, or the govt. Despite his magnitude of lack, not once has this broken his smile or ability to trust others. Today I took him to get a new haircut so he can feel as beautiful as he is as a person. You know people treat you differently when you look like you're going places!! Please help me do a complete makeoverfor him by purchasing new shoes, clothes, and food he desperately needs for his family so he doesn’t have to compromise his integrity at night!!
