Consensus

There is such a difference between working by consensus and working by majority rule.

Consensus is cooperation, the building of bridges, actions that lead to understanding.

Majority rule tends to create power plays, politics, and the concepts of victory and defeat.

It replaces the king with a committee, but doesn't kill despotism.

We can operate by consensus much more than we think. Everyone really wants to problem solve, to find the best solution. But when we become accustomed to the war zone we think the ideal is to be a good soldier.

That game is not worth the candle.

There is no reason to fight. We can walk away to a more peaceful world.

In that is abundance.

We are not cave dogs fighting for scraps anymore.

I'm looking for love.

Knowing Love

Whole love is unperturbable and very rare. What we see and experience is usually some fraction of love, some partial expression, hope, or desire for love. Even in that is healing.

But there is also the fatal flaw. Idealism, the love of perfect love, can become bitter, disillusioned by expectations of perfection.

Wanting too much, demanding too much, often blinds us to what is already beautiful.

Many of the great philosophers, flooded with love, sought ways to bring the truth they felt in their hearts into a full fleshed and rigorous discipline, undisputable truth and love, proven for all to see that none would be able to successfully assault the castle of their logic.

Trying to control love, to channel it, we limit it. Only by opening ourselves completely do we experience, gratefully, the fraction as the whole.

This is not stupid as some have suggested. You don't lie down in front of a moving truck or hand the loaded gun back to the thief. What a crazy idea, to think love would do that.

Love nurtures and strengthens. It nurtures the intelligence and doesn't wander blindly.

Love is the supreme value and in the final analysis love is still standing when all else has failed.

You who know love know this.
