DOCARE CELEBRATES AMERICA 250 🇺🇸

Dr. Leanne Rawji is an osteopathic physician who earned her medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. She has proudly served in the United States Air Force for the past seven years, including four years at Travis Air Force Base in California and the last three years at Misawa Air Base, Japan. As an Urgent Care Physician, Dr. Rawji provides medical care to active-duty service members and their families overseas.

Today DOCARE honors the service of Dr. Robert L. Roty.

I was drafted at age 30, as a captain. I was assigned as the group surgeon for the military intelligence division in Vietnam. My medical facility was housed in a compound, along with military intelligence. I helped retrieve wounded soldiers on the ground who were under attack and helped to evacuate military wounded by helicopter. In addition, I was sent into local villages to treat inhabitants and possibly determine information regarding Viet Cong activity in the area.

After being discharged from the Army, I returned to Michigan, where I worked as a country physician in private practice for the next 60 years. During that time, I was able to recruit specialists to our area. This greatly improved the health care available in our county and in central Michigan.
