They’re painting it black when they need to be painting it back.

Some quick updates on the Robert E. Smith mural that was destroyed on Friday:
-People have shared who they believe the owner to be, but we haven’t seen anything that 100% confirms who is responsible. We also have not heard from the owner. The no-brainer choice for them is to apologize and work with the right people to restore the mural immediately. Local news will be sharing about this today and we’re hopeful that’s the path the owner takes.
-, the business on the lower level, didn’t make the call on this and is bummed like the rest of us. Please show them some love because this is a headache for them.
-The response to this has been nearly unanimous and the local art community has been buzzing all weekend about what to do next. Restoring the mural is step one. Together, we can do much more than that. We’re eager to collaborate wherever we can to restore this work of public art, celebrate Robert E. Smith’s creative legacy, preserve other similar works downtown, and see more public art created here.

We’ll do our best to keep folks updated. This obviously sucks but there’s a way for us to turn this into a win together.
