Two days remain of spring session and we are working hard to stop any new tax hikes for the FY27 budget.

Committees begin at 3:00 pm today and then we will gavel in for session at 5:00 pm. We will be paying close attention to so-called affordability “solutions" as we are expecting to see larger bills move through the House.

Earlier today, I introduced two of my "Pages for The Day"- Rheed Kiel and my daughter Chloe.

Rheed Kiel is from Chatham, Illinois and is wrapping up his senior year in Western Illinois University, majoring in law enforcement. Rheed’s ultimate career goal is to protect and serve our state by officially joining the Illinois State Police and specializing with the Statewide Terrorism and Intelligence Center.

My daughter Chloe is going to be a senior at the University of Mississippi. She’s majoring in Business and Hospitality Management and wants to to take over the family business, so we’ll see. She’s a very special girl and I’m very proud to have her as my daughter.

Fiscal responsibility matters, transparency matters, and our taxpayers matter. That’s what we must keep in mind.
