Caracara Metal
Custom footplates….. This one is for a 2x2 rack with 1” holes, and it took me three tries to get the design dialed in before I was happy with it.
From raw steel to finished product:
⚡ Cut the square tube
🔥 CNC plasma cut the mounting plate
🛠️ Drill the undersized holes
🔩 Tap every hole to 1/4-20
📐 Bend it on the press brake
⚙️ Weld it together
🎨 Powder coat
✅ Install the protective liners and custom knurled nut
A lot of work goes into a part most people will never think twice about
Also breaking in my new Marin BRUNT Toe boots from BRUNT. They’ve already been getting plenty of shop time. 🤘
Finally got a shop sign up. 🤘
With the shop slowly coming together—insulation going in and walls finally getting covered—it felt like the right time to hang the Caracara sign I cut on the CNC plasma… about a year ago. 😅
I gave it a grind finish with a flap wheel, hit it with clear coat, and decided to try LED backlighting for the first time. Definitely learned a few things along the way.
So if you’ve done LED signs before… tell me what I did wrong. 😂
Either way, seeing it lit up on the wall makes the shop feel a whole lot more official.
Small improvements make a big difference. 🔥
I updated the Bells of Steel “Crane” attachment with new laser-cut pulley brackets, moving from 4 separate brackets to 2 integrated brackets. The result? Perfectly aligned pulleys, increased strength, and a cleaner setup.
Pair it with your cable tower to increase the range of motion on lat pulldowns and get even more out of your training.
