👇Constraints-driven footwork: one step at a time
Lateral sprinter starts train first step and hip rotation at the same time 🙌
But it’s rare that we start with both feet on the ground leaning into our cut🤔
A quick lift and stomp creates urgency in the first step > get your foot back down quickly, or you’ll fall over
Single leg starting stance drives the same urgency in the jabstep
Combine the two, and footwork timing follows
🪜Ladder-haters, listen up!
It’s true that the vast majority of ladder drills you see on here don’t displace the athletes center of mass enough to truly develop agility.
Fast feet are not useful.
That said, you can still use ladders to establish patterning, rhythm, and coordination.
We move out of the ladder and into the open field while the footwork is still fresh, and then put the skill in a drill
