I will be the first to admit that I’m easily amused, but… look at my salsa glass!!! I made that! So really this was a test cut before I attempt to cut some much nicer bottles, and it confirmed my suspicion that I need to build a jig to ensure my score lines are totally straight and even, but… we do need more glasses, and I eat plenty of salsa to put together a decent sized set before too long. 😁

I appreciate Bernzomatic replacing my torch under warranty even though the old one still works and my only complaint was “I feel like maybe the flame isn’t quite as big as it used to be, maybe?” I do. But I have to say I wish they’d replaced it with something equivalent or mentioned to me that the new one is different. There’s only so much adjustment one can expect from this kind of torch and they engineered it for things like plumbing and not minuscule jewelry work, so we’ll see. I’ve always had multiple torches for exactly this reason, to generate different flame sizes, so it may be that just the larger range has been expanded. That’s good, so it’s a net positive. I’m just skittish about change. 😆🤷

Here’s something a little different- a hand-carved poplar wood barrette! Poplar is a common wood species in the US and is often considered a “utility” or “paint-grade” wood, but it can be really beautiful too. This piece has an amazing chatoyant (shimmery) quality, emphasized by many layers of the same kind of lacquer used on fine musical instruments like guitars and violins.
