Immigrants who were moments away from receiving U.S. citizenship were unexpectedly pulled out of line during an oath ceremony at Boston’s Faneuil Hall on December 4. The individuals had already completed the naturalization process and been approved for citizenship, but were removed due to their connections to their countries of origin, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services officials confirmed. The incident came shortly after the Trump administration ordered authorities to halt immigration applications and asylum requests for select countries.
