Music has easily always been one of my biggest inspirations. If you see me walking around town, I’ve probably got a headphone in blasting Reba. If you see me driving, it’s HIGHLY likely I’m singing Whitney! Music has always been a source of comfort and expansion for me. When I want to be in my comfort zone, I listen to music to take me there. When I’m going through something hard, I listen to music to keep me steady as I work through it. And I listen to music when I want to be inspired. Whether I’m writing a song or creating a concept for a new design project I endlessly find inspiration in music. It brings wide ranges of emotions and I use those feelings to create. We all have big sources or inspiration that guide us when we create, what is one of your big sources for inspiration?

Let’s take a quick inventory! Go into a main room in your home, maybe the master bedroom or living area, and look around. What do you see that you actually connect with? What story does the space tell? Are there pieces that actually make you feel something? These are important things to consider when you’re creating a space. It’s not just about the room “looking good” or “having a cohesive aesthetic”. These all play a part in the space coming together but that’s not where you should be starting. If there is nothing that you connect with in a space, it can leave you feeling neutral and uninspired. I don’t know about you but that is never my goal. When you walk into your home I want it to FEEL like home. Like you’re not just physically showing up somewhere, but that you are being immersed into a space that was dynamically created to make you feel something. It does take some attention and intentionality but it’s not as complicated as it may sound.
