These two things are NOT the same, and confusing them can cause real problems with your documents.

🔹 NOTARIZATION verifies your identity and that you signed a document willingly. It's required for wills, powers of attorney, trust documents, and most legal paperwork here in Washington.

🔹 AN APOSTILLE is a government-issued certification that makes your notarized document legally valid in other countries. Think of it as the passport for your paperwork.

So if your estate planning documents only stay in the US? A notarization is what you need.

But if those documents ever need to cross international borders - whether for foreign property, overseas family, or international institutions - you'll likely need both.

Knowing the difference ahead of time can save you a lot of stress (and delays) later.
