I had the good fortune to have dinner with John Clayton tonight at his hotel. What a wonderful spirit and genuine individual. Even through his most recent adversity of the loss of his home to the LA fires. John is upbeat while still processing the loss.
We discussed music history, musicians, and the bass instrument itself. He shared stories about Ray Brown that I didn’t know and I shared stories about Wendell Marshall and Jimmie Blanton that he did know.
John is top shelf!!!
