Our friends at Chicago Aikikai discovered some old film and have figured out how to digitize it. It is great footage!
Here is one of the videos featuring Tohei Sensei. Tohei was known for being a bit... let's say... bouncy. For some this makes his techniques seem less serious, but we see something else. What is amazing to me watching this is how exact those motions were. In many of techniques you can see him doing a full Tenkan, perfectly to the other side of the line of attack, all in midair! That takes incredible skill.
Let's use this as the 4th video in our series examining Tenkan.
