Janice “Jan” Adams, Ronnette Meyers, and Ron Adams embody this week’s theme, Protectors of Legacy, through a powerful multigenerational story of entrepreneurship, discipline, and wealth creation rooted in family, faith, and service.

The Adams family legacy began long before boardrooms and balance sheets. It started on a front porch, where Jan’s mother, out of love and necessity, did hair for neighbors and friends, quietly modeling entrepreneurship as a means of dignity, independence, and survival. That porch became the classroom. The lesson was simple: use your gifts to create opportunity not just for yourself, but for those who come after you.

That lesson took flight with Janice Adams, a retired U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sergeant whose 24 years of military service instilled the leadership, discipline, and strategic vision that would later define her entrepreneurial success. Today, Jan serves as President and CEO of Ideal Electrical Supply Corporation, a Washington, DC-based wholesale electrical distributor she acquired in 2021. Under her leadership, the company was named 2025 Wholesale Electrical Distributor of the Year, a testament to her ability to steward legacy businesses while positioning them for modern excellence. She is also the founder of JMA Solutions, supporting the Federal Aviation Administration, and a co-owner of DC Power FC, extending her impact into women’s professional sports.

For Ronnette Meyers, legacy was both inherited and reimagined. As a young girl, she learned to braid hair on her grandmother’s porch, her first experience turning skill into income. That early spark evolved into a distinguished career in federal service, followed by leadership within her mother’s government contracting firm. Ultimately, 15 years ago, Ronnette forged her own path, founding JLAN SOLUTIONS and growing a successful IT consulting company and expanding into government contracting. With more than 15 years as a trailblazer in govcon, she credits her success to relationships grounded in trust, confidence, and balance, proving that legacy is not only built but sustained through people.

Ron Adams, Executive Vice President, of Ideal Electrical Supply rounds out this powerful triad as both a financial steward and a hands on builder. With 17 years supporting the Federal Aviation Administration as a financial and budget analyst, Ron managed millions in federal funds, trained personnel, and briefed senior leadership, quietly ensuring mission readiness and accountability. Beyond government service, his more than 40 years in home renovation, construction, and real estate investing reflect a practical, generational approach to wealth building: buy, fix, build, and pass it on.

Together, Jan, Ronnette and Ron Adams represent more than individual success. They represent a family enterprise, shaped by a matriarch’s vision, strengthened by service, and protected through intentional transfer of knowledge, assets, and values.

This is what Protectors of Legacy looks like.
Not just building businesses, but building futures.
