I don’t train like I used to.
20–60 minutes a day. 5–6 days a week.
Some days it’s swim. Some days it’s swim + run + rehab.
But every session has one focus:
Finding balance in the water.
I test it.
I lose it.
I find it again.
That’s what I felt this weekend.
Even with a strained groin and limited kicking, I swam faster than I did a few months ago.
Not because I was stronger —
because I was confidently balanced; more aligned.
That’s the difference.

Raced this weekend with the Ancient Mariners.
3 first place finishes, a 2nd place, and a relay record.
Won the 200 Backstroke for the meet.
Post race!
I strained my groin 7 days before racing and had to shut down my kick almost completely.
Still went 2:18 in the 200 Free — faster than when I was nearly fully healthy in November.
The difference wasn’t fitness.
It was balance and body position.
Still learning. Still testing.

Throwback to the 2025 Short Course Yards season with the Ancient Mariners.
I was fortunate to set a few team records in the 45–49 age group during the season.
Staying in the water matters to me not only as an athlete, but also as the founder of Rip Current Sports. The training principles behind our Dual Boards system come directly from time spent testing ideas in the pool.
