Today I had the joy of attending, by invitation of Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center, the annual Clergy Appreciation Symposium — an event dedicated to those who serve with heart and purpose in pastoral ministry.

One quote deeply touched me:

“Clergy struggle to give to themselves what they so willingly give to the world.”

Dr. David Dafoe shared practical tools for balancing life and ministry, such as the R.A.P.I.D. method — Relax, Accept, Pause, Investigate, Decide — and the H.A.L.T. technique, which invites us to recognize when we are Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired before reacting or making decisions.

It was a moment of renewal and awareness: before caring for the world, we must care for our own soul.
