Your Craft Beer Concierge has put together a crawl for book and beer lovers everywhere for the next time you’re in San Francisco, or even if you’re living here now!

Come with me to discover four amazing spots that are transit and walking friendly for you to be able to imbibe and enjoy the spoils of some amazing bookstores around the city by the bay.

My rule is that each spot I uncovered had to be no more than a 5 minute walk door to door, and had to be an actual brewery - not just a beer bar.

Bartlett Hall & downtown between O Farrell and Powell

Fort Point Beer Company and Dog-Eared Books - A straight shot down Valencia in the Mission

Magnolia Brewing and The Booksmith in the historic Haight District

Black Bird Books and WOODS Beer & Wine Co. Outbound at “the end of the world” aka the Outer Sunset.

Have you been to any of these before? Share your favorite SF bookstores and breweries in the comments below!

Unlocking aroma is a key part to building sensory profiles of a beer. Oftentimes between the first impression of your beer in a glass and the first sip that hits your palate, it’s overlooked.

With “May Flowers”, a gorgeous beer from The Bruery which I cracked open last week to celebrate a new position i’ll be starting in two weeks, I took a minute to deliberately stop and smell the rose hips.

And the hibiscus.
And the white pepper.
And the subtle honey notes shining through.

Inhaled twice. Once close, once further away. What differences (if any) do I pick up? A full 30 seconds spent before the beer even hit my lips.

Springtime is a great time for reflection, stopping to see things bloom, to feel warmth radiate on your skin. I encourage you to stop and smell the aromas on your next pint. You may be led on a journey you never knew was going to exist.
