Life is messy. Work is messy. And sometimes, showing up as your full self feels impossible.
Why? Judgment, fear of retaliation, feelings of not being โenough.โ And that all comes at a cost: burnout, stress, reduced contribution, and missed opportunities to connect and shine.
Insights Iโd like to share:
Share experiences in ways that inspire, not retraumatize. Your challenges can be a powerful teacher for others.
โ
๐ข๐ณ๐ณ๐น๐ผ๐ฎ๐ฑ โ You donโt have to carry it all. Delegate, ask for help, and free up space to focus on what matters.
Stop measuring yourself by whatโs missing (โgap thinkingโ). Celebrate progress and what youโve already accomplished (โgain thinkingโ).
Allies help you shift focus from whatโs holding you back to whatโs possible. By leaning on support, letting go of what you donโt need to carry, and reframing your mindset, you can reclaim clarity, energy, and show up authentically at work.
Your turn: How often are you showing up as your full self at work? Are you masking struggles? Can you offload, share your story, and celebrate progress instead of fixating on gaps?
Authenticity isnโt perfection. Itโs courage. And itโs possibleโeven when life is hard.

Weโve all been in that meeting.
โ โฆand silence.
People shift in their seats. Cameras stay off. The ideas stay in peopleโs heads instead of being shared out loud.
Thatโs what a lack of ๐ฝ๐๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ผ๐น๐ผ๐ด๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ฎ๐ณ๐ฒ๐๐ looks like. And itโs costly.
When people donโt feel safe to speak up, teams lose out on innovation, honest feedback, and trust. But when they ๐ฅ๐ฐ feel safe? Everything shiftsโcollaboration deepens, mistakes become learning moments, and new ideas actually see the light of day.
A few shifts I see making the biggest impact:
โจ Leaders who show vulnerabilityโowning mistakes, asking for feedback, sharing challenges.
Teams where openness and collaboration are actually recognized in reviews, not just talked about.
Leaders who are trained to listen deeply and create inclusive spaces where every voice matters.
At the end of the day, people want more than just a paycheck. They want to feel valued, heard, and safe. And the leaders who get this right? Theyโre building organizations that can adapt to anything the future throws at them.
Think about a time when you worked on a team where it ๐ธ๐ข๐ด๐ฏโ๐ต safe to speak up? What difference did it make?

Without it, collaboration breaks down. Burnout rises. Innovation stalls.
And yetโmost leaders are never taught ๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ธ to talk about trust in a way thatโs actionable.
Thatโs why I love Charles Feltmanโs framework in ๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ฉ๐ช๐ฏ ๐๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฌ ๐ฐ๐ง ๐๐ณ๐ถ๐ด๐ต.
He breaks trust down into four core behaviors:
This mattersโbecause when we treat โtrustโ as one vague concept, we miss the chance to name ๐ธ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฆ trust is strong and ๐ธ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฆ it needs repair.
Trust isnโt a personality trait. Itโs a learned skill.
And as leaders, we can build it with intentionโespecially when we delegate.
Feltman reminds us:
โ๏ธ Donโt just assign a taskโdescribe what โdone to my satisfactionโ actually looks like.
โ๏ธ Be clear about the ๐ธ๐ฉ๐บ, not just the ๐ธ๐ฉ๐ข๐ต.
Make space for feedback and learning, not just delivery.
Teams are fueled by purposeโbut trust is what keeps the engine running.
And like any essential function, it needs attention, repair, and care.
๐ฌ Whatโs one trust-building behavior you want to lean into this year?
Letโs talk about how to lead with more clarity, courage, and connection.
