Hello all, I am feeling somewhat better and, at the same time, I have more medical appointments coming up. My best guess is that I'll be able to blog again by the end of September and will send out a monthly ezine on the last Thursday. That ezine will have additional information. Over-apologizong rarely helps you accomplish what you see out to do, but here I am again, apologizing for not being available for my clients. I had. planned to be back in action this past Monday and, instead, I spent a second night in the ER at Evergreen Hospital. Recovery is slow, unfortunately. Again, I'll keep you posted as to my progress (or lack thereof).

Cheers,
Yafa

Can ADHD Trigger Trauma Responses? — Yafa Crane Luria 07/21/2025

ADHD's Trauma, an Introduction

Can ADHD Trigger Trauma Responses? — Yafa Crane Luria Depending on your age when first diagnosed with ADHD, and depending on how the people around you reacted to you as a child, you may be experiencing or re-experiencing trauma. In this blog post, Yafa Crane Luria offers an introduction to ADHD and Trauma.

There are childhood experiences that most people just don’t understand.

Experiences that shape you in ways that feel invisible to those who haven’t lived them.

1. Being punished—either emotionally or physically—for simply having boundaries or expressing your needs.

2. Learning that love is conditional and can be taken away without warning.

3. Being forced into roles—like caretaker, therapist, or peacekeeper—when all you needed was to be a child.

4. Feeling shamed, mocked, or guilt-tripped every time you expressed real emotion.

5. Waking up each day unsure of whether you’re walking into affection or an emotional battlefield.

6. Feeling completely invisible unless you were doing something for someone else.

7. Being praised for betraying yourself—staying small, staying quiet, never being real.

8. Living in a constant state of hypervigilance, where walking on eggshells was simply your “normal.”

→ These are the wounds that shape who you become.

Often without others even understanding them.

But you can change these patterns, recognize the trauma passed down, and work on getting your family out of you.

BLOG: https://adhdqueenbees.com/blog This happens to kids with ADHD at home, at school, in movies, on TV, and its effects (trauma) last a lifetime to a greater or lesser degree. Getting that diagnosis can be a huge relief and validation. It can also - either instead of relief or combined with relief - trigger feelings that have been bottled up for years, just so you could fit in.

Very excited to be speaking to Business Owners -Puget Sound in a week. I would like to clarify that I won't be speaking about how ADHD is a strength. I use the word "asset" which is a different word. The idea of ADHD as a superpower is very conventional within the ADHD community and I believe that the ADHD community (the conventional unconventional) are behind the times! I hope you'll join me to learn more about my approach: https://womenbusinessowners.org/event-6042340

New Blog Post: "Trying to turn a top challenge into a Do-It-Yourself project never addresses the deepest and most nuanced aspects, because only a professional has experienced enough of these nuances to recognize them when they surface." (Yes, I'm being bold with "never")
