Seattle’s Republican City Attorney is tough on protestors, democracy and victims of Trump’s chaos.

Every day, people in Seattle find themselves in the endless cycle of poverty, crime, arrest, jail, release, poverty, crime. And the cycle just continues. Our current City Attorney’s response has been to negotiate more beds at King County Jail and to sign a contract with another jail in South King County, so more people end up caught in this cycle.

There is a better way.

LEAD has developed the most robust framework in the country for responding to people who chronically commit low-level offenses related to substance use, mental illness, or poverty. LEAD participants receive long-term intensive case management, working with police and prosecutors to reduce each individual’s negative impact on the community, while fostering progress toward recovery.

Similarly, our therapeutic court system, including Community Court, brings together public defenders, prosecutors, and service providers to help each individual figure out what they need in order to disengage from the criminal legal system. But our current City Attorney ended Community Court. She has failed to engage the local resources we have that help to break the cycle of crime.

I’m running for City Attorney because I want to disrupt the cycle of crime. Throwing more people in jail doesn’t solve the problem. LEAD and Community Court are part of the solution. As your City Attorney, I will work to build out these resources that will make Seattle a better place for everyone.

Nobody wants to defeat Seattle’s current City Attorney more than I do. I couldn’t wait to jump into the race against Republican Ann Davison. I’m grateful beyond measure for the volunteers who are powering my campaign.

Seattle should have a City Attorney's office that reflects their values. Unfortunately, we don't. That's why I'm running.

While Seattle's current City Attorney has been hiding from workers, staying silent on the Trump Administration's latest illegal power grab, the Fair Works Center and I convened an emergency workshop for federal employees. We heard from public servants who are scared and unsure how to navigate this unprecedented challenge. It's not just their pay and benefits at risk. It's their research, their life's work. And, ultimately, our health, safety and security that will suffer. No one should be silent in the face of a threat this profound. I stand in solidarity with our federal workforce.
