Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) has acquired Niantic’s gaming division—including Pokémon Go—for $3.5 billion through its subsidiary Scopely. The deal includes major AR titles like Pokémon Go, Pikmin Bloom, and Monster Hunter Now, with teams continuing under Scopely's leadership.

As part of its Vision 2030 strategy, PIF is expanding beyond content to hardware—with plans to develop mixed reality glasses, tapping into the growing interest in wearables like Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses. This marks a major step in Saudi’s ambition to lead in both immersive experiences and next-gen gaming platforms.

This strategic diversification helps the company navigate potential trade disruptions and ensures a more stable supply chain.​
