Find Me in Seattle
06/02/2026
I’ve been spending a lot of time with neon lights the past two months. It has been an incredible experience collaborating with and to pick up, and deliver Sea Beacons while creating a series about local businesses. The intersection of Seattle business, soccer, and art is a corner in happy to be on. Most of that content won’t appear here, but please check out to see the Sea Beacon series ⚽️
This Seattleite You Should Know goes around our city drawing and painting storefronts.
Meet Emily Weissman, also known as .em.sketches 🎨 Her minimalist and whimsical art is inspired by the urban sketching movement, and likes to draw places the way you and I would see them. You might recognize some of her viral pieces like the Libraries of Seattle, the Seattle Coffee Cup Journal, or Seattle’s Chaotic Intersections. Emily told me that the touristy places are always made into art, but the day to day places, like Chocolati in Greenwood where we met, also deserve celebration. She has drawn hundreds of Seattle buildings and storefronts. If you want to support her work, you can find her prints online, the coffee journal local retailers around the city, or she is available to draw your space. Her process involves visiting the business, sketching it out with pencil, and finalizing with watercolors. I always recognize her work by the signature blue she paints windows.
