The always brilliant Perpetual Health

YES!!

Why are we still afraid to test EVERYONE?? I have said this several times and I will say it again. At the very least you should know your fasting insulin levels. If your doctor will not test them...find a new doctor!

I will die on this hill if I have to but I cannot begin to tell you the amount of research on so many different disease states that STARTS with hyperinsulinemia. And the real killer is...its preventable. It is happening decades before classically recognized symptoms manifest and only then is the medical community quick to act...usually with a drug🤦🏻‍♂️WE. MUST. DO. BETTER.

We have gotten so good at treating T2D symptoms( poor blood glucose control) that we are failing to address the root cause. T2D is an insulin resistant state! That is driving the disease.

Insulin should not be considered a drug to treat a disease. Insulin is a critical hormone that helps shuttle nutrients into the cell and also happens to lower blood sugar levels. It was never meant to be chronically elevated and here's another fun fact...the pancreas, which produces insulin, is 98% exocrine and only about 2% endocrine! What does that mean? It means that's by far and away it's primary role is the breakdown of food and NOT to control blood sugar. Our poor western diet has forced it into working overtime and that is why we see T2D and other chronic diseases at epidemic levels.

Know your numbers and start learning what foods help keep blood sugar excursions to a minimum. It's probably one of the best things you can do for your overall health!

Yes I see this often- folks on keto just don’t get sick as often. No sugar to wreck the gut and immune system

Ketogenic diet helps tame flu virus Mice fed a ketogenic — or very low-carb — diet were better able to combat the flu virus than mice fed food high in carbohydrates, according to a new Yale study.
