Congratulations to Seattle Teacher Residency Cohort 13 on graduating from University of Washington College of Education! πŸŽ“βœ¨

This week, we celebrated a remarkable group of equity-driven educators who have completed their Master's In Teaching with personal passion, perseverance, and a deep commitment to Seattle students.

Through mentorship with seasoned educators, hands-on classroom experience this school-year, and partnership with Seattle Public Schools, UW and the SEA union, these graduates will be part of shaping a stronger, more representative educator workforce for our schools.

We can’t wait to see the impact they will make in classrooms across Seattle! πŸ’œπŸŽ

πŸ—£οΈ β€œThe last talk I have with my students at the end of the year is that my door is always open,” Matt says. β€œThere’s nothing they can do that will change the fact that they are part of this classroom family.”

Will you donate to support teachers like Matt during ?

We are 70% of the way to our goal - and a donation of any amount helps us get there!

Across our city, Seattle Teacher Residency alumni are embedded within the school community of 87% of SPS Title I schools. These schools are vibrant learning communities rich with culture, resilience, possibility, AND great educators!

STR educators bring their talent, care and commitment to schools that serve students who may be further from opportunities. This map is not an accident, it is both the reflection of:
✏️ The current reality we face from historical policies that were harmful, rooted in racism and structurally designed to stunt BIPOC, poor and working class families.
✏️ A shared belief that we play an important step in ensuring every student has excellent teachers and schools to overcome these systemic barriers to thrive together.
