“As with every Photo Safaris we have taken, it was a unique experience in amazing settings, with an excellent tour leader. What I liked most was the amazing hospitality of the lodge staff, wanting to meet all of our needs. Our local guide went above and beyond. He was considerate, communicative, and just a kind human being, very knowledgeable about the brown bears.”

Brown Bears of Lake Clark National Park

August 22 - 28, 2026
Experience the heart of Alaska's wild bear country for an unforgettable week of wildlife photography.

Our home for the week is the historic Alaska Homestead Lodge, nestled on Silver Salmon Creek in Lake Clark National Park. Originally homesteaded in the 1950s and still family-owned today, the lodge offers warm hospitality, authentic Alaskan character, and exceptional access to one of the world's premier brown bear photography destinations.

Two legends. Two tours. One unforgettable journey through East Africa.

We're thrilled to announce that Van Os Photo Safaris has partnered with Joe and Mary Ann McDonald, two of the most accomplished wildlife photographers working today, to lead a pair of back-to-back photo safaris in early 2027.

With nearly four decades of African safari experience between them, Joe and Mary Ann bring a depth of knowledge and a teaching approach that's genuinely rare. Whether you join one tour or both, you'll be in extraordinary hands in extraordinary places.

Rwanda's Virunga Mountains hold roughly half the world's remaining mountain gorillas — and this January, we're going in. Five times.
Our Rwanda Photography Tour with Joe and Mary Ann McDonald is built around repeated, unhurried access to habituated gorilla families in Volcanoes National Park, plus wildlife and waterbirds in Akagera National Park. Ten days, small group, extraordinary light.

And if you want to keep going — Tanzania's Serengeti calving season begins right as Rwanda ends. The two tours run back-to-back by design.

February on the southern Serengeti is one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on Earth. Thousands of wildebeest calves born daily. Predators everywhere. And Joe and Mary Ann McDonald behind the lens with you.

Our Tanzania Wildlife Photography Safari covers 12 days across the Serengeti calving grounds and Ngorongoro Crater — with dual park permits, bush plane access, and a maximum of three photographers per vehicle.

Pair it with our Rwanda gorilla tour the week before and you have two weeks in East Africa that are hard to top.

Polar bears on drifting pack ice. In Svalbard, we spend our days navigating the floe edge where bears hunt, walruses haul out, and ivory gulls patrol the Arctic sky.

Using satellite imagery and Zodiac excursions, we position ourselves for exceptional wildlife encounters in one of the most photogenic regions on Earth. In Svalbard, we spend our days navigating the floe edge where bears hunt, walruses haul out, and ivory gulls patrol the Arctic sky.

At dawn, trackers fan out across the Patagonian steppe, reading footprints and habitat cues. By mid-morning, you're in position as a wild puma crosses open grassland fifty meters away.

Our Patagonian Puma Photography Tour is a 10-day expedition for just 8 photographers, tracking wild pumas through Torres del Paine with expert local guides who know this terrain and these cats intimately.

Then two days photographing the iconic "Towers" and "Horns" at sunrise and sunset.
Patagonia's most elusive predator. Its most iconic landscape.

We are photographing roseate spoonbills from a stable pontoon boat, close enough to see every feather, as the morning light turns them pink-gold.

That's a typical morning on our Florida Birds photo tour — one of the most productive bird photography experiences in North America.

We visit three of Florida's most active wading bird rookeries at peak nesting season: wood storks, great blue herons, anhingas, spoonbills, and more — often just feet from active nests. Bald eagles in flight. Snail kites hunting. Ospreys carrying fish to their young.

Every detail managed. Every location chosen for maximum photographic opportunity.
