🏀Returning to sport early after surgery or injury….
Playing through injury….
We hear of cases like Ron Artest having a meniscectomy and returning to play pick up ball in 2 days. Every response to surgery and injury is individualistic.
Many bounce back from meniscus trims quickly but in the long-run have arthritic knees. Some cases this might be worth it, like obtaining a championship.
Other times, the reward may not be worth the risk. Many factors go into this… Stage of career, type of injury, injury history, contract, championship run, etc.
We see guys like Adrian Peterson tear an ACL like 5 different times and still return to play in 6 months at a high level. Again, highly individualistic.
This is not normal.
The media celebrates guys being “tough” and playing through injury.
Sometimes there ARE injuries you should be tough about and play through.
Actually, every hooper in the post-season is tough and playing through injuries. No one is 100%.
BUT, some injuries don’t show you are tough when you play through them, they show more stupid.
Weigh the risk and reward proper 💯
