Over 50 Basketball

Almost 4 weeks post-TKR… and still “off the table.”
As I wait for the first Final Four game tonight — about a half hour to go — here’s what dinner looks like right now:
Simple. Clean. Intentional.
• Boneless ribeye — grilled rare to medium rare
• Alessi porcini mushroom risotto (if you haven’t tried Alessi… do yourself a favor — outstanding)
• Green salad — olive oil, salt, pepper
• Ribeye finished Florentine-style: extra virgin olive oil + fresh lemon
No wine tonight — still taking a painkiller here and there, so it’s ginger ale for now.
And yes… the ice machine is still getting heavy minutes.
⸻
Funny timing with the Final Four…
While those teams are competing at the highest level, I’m reminded that recovery has its own version of March Madness:
Discipline. Patience. Adjustments. Small wins.
You don’t rush the process — whether it’s a championship run… or getting back on your feet.
⸻
Week 4 lesson:
Do the basics well. Every day. No shortcuts.
⸻
If you’ve gone through this — or you’re about to — stick with it.
Progress is happening… even when it doesn’t feel like it.
👉 Who do you have winning it all this year?

Back in the gym.
Not 100%…but moving forward.
Finished today with 10 minutes on the bike — moderate pace — and pushed through a 4-minute Tabata at the end.
Three weeks ago, that wouldn’t have been possible.
It’s amazing how quickly the body responds when you stay consistent…even when it’s uncomfortable.
If you’re going through something — surgery, recovery, or just trying to get back in shape — keep going.
Progress isn’t always pretty…but it’s always worth it.
