MXME is a synthesized soundscape of electro down-tempo rhythms, textured vocal harmonies, and effected instruments, like Bjork meeting Brian Eno under the northern lights. Live MXME performances blend composed songs and improvised pieces into a movement-inducing, dreamlike soundtrack, lyrics immersed in an extended celestial mood.
Shannon Fortner (vocals, keys, saxophone) and Erne Murphy (guitar, violin, vocals, keys) began collaborating in 2020 while under quarantine, incorporating elements of Fortner’s solo project, Moxie Moxie, together with Murphy’s solo project, Mosephine, and impressionistic scenery. Fortner and Murphy are both self-taught and have been active in the Sarasota music scene for nearly two decades, performing in bands and producing local shows for musicians from all over the country.
Fortner performed for many years with Spontaneous Habit, and currently performs with MeteorEYES.
Erne Murphy has previously performed with the Equines and Teach Me Equals.
