One small step forward for copper critters on the east coast.

Two days ago, May 4th, 2022, Florida Fish & Wildlife heard the pleas of the Treasure Coast & Mosquito Lagoon communities and has declared an executive order making all redfish catch & release in the Indian River Lagoon system.

While this action is very just (though a bit overdue), east coast redfish are not holistically saved because of it.

We must now refocus our efforts and amplify our messaging around water quality and habitat restoration. We need to improve these coastal ecosystems by removing our waste water, reducing nutrient loading and restoring seagrass density if we hope to one day see an IRL teeming with happy, healthy tails.
