We've had so, so many families reach out about our BBQ Cané Corso litter, so we need to have a very honest conversation about this breed. 🐾

Corsos are one of our favorite breeds. They're phenomenal dogs, but the reality is that only a small percentage of the families who inquire are truly prepared for one, and that's okay. Not every good home is the right home for every dog.

A Corso puppy is not yet a Corso. That sweet, social, squishy 8-week-old baby may love every person and dog they meet. Then, around 15–18 months, maturity starts setting in, and it can genuinely feel like a switch flips. The dog who loved every dog may become selective. The puppy who happily greeted strangers may become discerning and suspicious. Your Corso grew up and became a Corso.

These dogs were bred for conflict and guardianship, and professional training, structure, boundaries, and lifelong management are not optional. The people must learn alongside the dog.

Same-sex aggression and dog intolerance are real possibilities. Crate-and-rotate may become your reality. Dog interactions may need to remain structured and monitored for life.

You have to be willing to manage the dog you actually have, not mourn the dog you hoped they would become. People fall in love with the look, but when you have children, other dogs, neighbors, and a particular lifestyle, research is crucial.

We'd rather help you find the right dog than fit a square peg into a round hole.

Puppies, puppies, puppies! 🐾

We love having puppies in training, but the truth is a lot of litters come to us needing catch-up work in their development on things like grooming and bathing acclimation, socialization, leash work, sound sensitivity, recovery time, and learning how to move through the world with confidence.

These pups, though, are a rare treat. They came in with a solid foundation already in place and have picked things up quickly. They’re handling the leash like little pros, have confidence for days, and not much seems to faze them. That kind of early exposure makes a huge difference.

This week, our focus is getting to know each puppy as an individual, because no two puppies are exactly alike. Even within the same litter, some are stubborn, some are laid back, some are go-with-the-flow, and others want to be part of every adventure.

That’s why we don’t match puppies to families based on looks.
The fluffiest puppy or the one with the prettiest markings isn’t automatically the right fit. The right puppy is the one whose temperament, energy level, and personality match your lifestyle, goals, and home.
