So happy for our hair salons to reopen! 👏🏼 And not because I need a haircut, but because I know the business shutdowns here in California have been particularly hard on our hairstylists and barbers to make their living. When you stop by your favorite hair salon or barbershop, in addition to paying for your haircut or shave, make sure you tip, and try purchasing some of the products they sell if you are able. Every little bit helps support our local businesses in these challenging times! I know I definitely can’t wait to see Eliana again! 💇‍♂️💇‍♀️💈✂️🪒

I’ve worked closely with Julia at , first working at her old storefront in downtown Petaluma 3 years ago, and now most recently collaborating on her package designs for her candles and diffusers. Her brick and mortar has since been converted to her husband’s kickass barbershop , and Julia’s business continues to grow online and through wholesale! I remember Julia asking me if I could paint some florals on her store windows to ring in spring time. 5 windows and 1 Instagram post later, Honeytea Calligraphy took off offering a new service - window signage and illustration. Many local business owners reached out to me asking me to paint their windows as well. I owe my place in the Petaluma small business community to Julia and her encouragement as an employer and as a friend, and I love this photo that captures both of our products and services together. Well anyways, Julia and her fam just moved out to Idaho and this is basically just a long post of me wishing them all the best in this new chapter, and just giving hype to her amazing brand! Check out Julia’s fine fragrance candles and diffusers , they are of the most superior quality and come in the most amazing scents! 💛

Happy Sunday! 🌞 I don’t often post a photo of myself on here, but I wanted to introduce myself to newer followers 👋

I’m Maria and I’m the woman behind Honeytea Calligraphy. A few quick facts on me:
• I immigrated from Dominican Republic at a young age, but I’m a Cali girl through and through!
• My favorite color is purple, though I rarely actually wear it (I like neutrals 🤷🏻‍♀️)
• I studied art & design at Dominican University of California
• I’ve been a graphic designer for almost 10 years
• I had an affinity for art from a very young age, growing up with a mom who was an oil painter and a dad who dabbled in calligraphy himself
• My favorite food is pho and I love chewy fruit candies over chocolate
• I started my calligraphy business after being laid off from a job in 2016 as just a hobby and then it quickly turned into a side hustle to my surprise
• On weekends I like to go disc golfing
• I used to be a serious volleyball player and even trained at the US Olympic training facility in Colorado Springs
• I love to garden and dream of having a house with a big backyard to have as my little homestead someday
• I also host a podcast about modern witchcraft, true crime, and paranormal stories!

I love connecting with my clients and I’ve had such a variety of projects throughout the years and I’m truly excited to see how my calligraphy business will grow! Though things are obviously really slow now with the pandemic, I am so appreciative of the support from my small business community. This photo was taken on a day where a bunch of Sonoma County small business owners got together to photograph themselves and their products/services. And I had the honor of creating all of their signage for the shoot! (More pics to follow)
