A new community center coming to Santa Maria will preserve Japanese history The new facility will highlight the role of the early Japanese immigrants and honor their agricultural history.
Wonderful opportunity was presented by Juge Gogo of Santa Clara and local internee Margaret Cooper. They are having all surviving Japanese American internees of WW2 sign a 48 star flag (in 1942 there were 48 states) in remebrance of that tragic and painful time in history. The signing was at one of the last Japanese American churches that are left in the valley. The Club (SMJCC) had our own 48 star flag that was signed as well. It will be later displayed at our new Center to be built behind the Enos House. Enjoy the video my friends🇺🇸
