The master tape of "Kingston Affair", which was recorded by Neol Davies, John Bradbury and Barry Jones in Roger Lomas's studio in 1977.
As we all know, the song later became "The Selecter" in 1979 and was released as a double 'A' side with The Special AKA's "Gangsters".
In 2023, Davies, Jones and Lomas reunited for the first time in 43 years in Coventry and visited the Coventry Music Museum.
This master tape is currently on display at the Coventry Music Museum.

Great record(s). If you remember the album was available as a double 10" set. I had it, came with a badge too! Lost that years ago and I'm still kicking myself.
The Ska-tinged and reggae-influenced Look Sharp by Joe Jackson was released on January 5th, 1979, 46 years ago. The band started recording the album in the Autumn of 1977. Peaking at #40 in the UK charts and #20 in the US. Released on the 29th of January in the US.

This is so RAD!
Sculptor Michael Evert usually makes busts of his subjects as they sit for him over time. They talk, there is a “vibe” and their interaction finds its way into the finished piece. For this project, Evert chose the life cast method to recreate my left hand to create an actual, historical record of the hand that created all that music.
Evert says, “I’ve always been old school. You can’t get older school than life casting, plus, the double bass is an old-school instrument, it plays all genres in the old-school tradition (as opposed to electric bass), it was the obvious choice.
It is my actual hand. There are no degrees of separation.”
He chose my left hand because it’s the left hand that moves up and down the neck and reaches across and creates so many different sounds and effects.
Only 20 were made, each numbered and signed by Michael and myself. If you want a piece of history, go to https://ow.ly/U9Ry50Xx3p7

Interesting history here....
Horace Panter and Ranking Roger were both members of General Public from 1983 to 1987, and when Roger released his first solo album, "Radical Departure", in 1988, Panter played bass on it.
In 2001, Ranking Roger released his second solo album, "Inside My Head" and Panter appeared on the album playing on the two tracks, "Ambient 2" and "Love Is Nothing".
