Student winners were recognized for their work on a theatrical adaptation of George Orwell's "Animal Farm," a production of Shakespeare's "The Tempest," and more.
"UCSB had a particularly strong year in theater," said Leslie Dinaberg, the Santa Barbara Independent's arts and culture editor.

Ben Halpern is a former marine biology graduate student at UCSB who became the executive director of the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS) in 2016. His research has painted a picture of how humans have collectively impacted Earth’s ecological systems.
The challenge Halpern proposes, is for humanity to pull back in hopes of proving his theories wrong on the oceans quality drastically changing 25 years from now.
