Yesterday Reborn

As someone who refinishes furniture, I sometimes see pieces and think, “pfffftttttt! That’s easy!” 🙄

Then I get home and start looking into it better and think, “sh*t. What was I seeing?!?!?!” Enter my latest project:

This vintage commode almost very literally fell apart as I pulled the drawers out, the drawers were holding it square. 😳 The doors on the bottom were not attached to the piece at all.

I sanded it down and found the legs rotted, the top had a HUGE split in it, and the drawers were no longer square. So I stacked it all up and put it in the garage because I was mad. 🤷🏻‍♀️

2 months later:

I repaired the legs, painted the entire piece licorice black, made and attached a walnut top, added new hardware, casters for ease of moving, and a towel bar for the side... I am loving how it turned out. Unfortunately I put so much time and money into completing this that I can’t sell it for any type of profit BUT, I have a place for it!!! It’s perfect for the backyard to have a little storage for BBQ tools, surface for entertainment (if we get to do that again), and obviously decor! ♥️

It has definitely been way too long since I shared a project! So here ya go!

A friend asked that I refinish this little, absolutely adorable desk that has been in her family... I was nervous and completely honored all at once.

Stripped it all down, painted it white, distressed it a little, gave it a light touch with brown wax, and sealed it... 😍 the wood is so old some of it didn’t want to behave, but I feel like it added to the overall look and I’m super happy with how it turned out. The stripped and restained wood is seriously stunning.

On to the next... which is a redo.... x3!!!! 🤪

6 Drawer antique, tall dresser. I absolutely LOVE the original wooden casters on the bottom - they move easily. This cutie has been painted with a gorgeous blue tone, with the tiger oak drawers and top sanded, stained, and sealed. Lightly distressed and original hardware has been refinished. Perfect for any room in the house .
