Ahead of them is a rigorous 26-week journey of intensive physical training, demanding academics, and mental conditioning. It won't be easy, but the road to earning the badge and becoming a California Highway Patrol Officer starts right here, right now.

Today, we honor Sergeant Washabaugh's dedicated service to our Academy’s Recruit Training Office (for our retirees, formerly known as the Staff Office).
Sergeant Washabaugh was instrumental in training and mentoring over 1,350 cadets during his time at the CHP Academy! Sergeant Washabaugh was presented with a Commander's Commendation today, thanking him for not only his tremendous work ethic and attention to detail in keeping with the highest standards and traditions of the California Highway Patrol, but his exceptional character and leadership ability as well. We are thrilled for Sergeant Washabaugh as he starts a new chapter in the CHP’s Office of Criminal Investigations. Thank you Sergeant Washabaugh!
